Project Title : CMS/Database query/apartment rental

Project Location : Remote

Project Status :
Bid Accepted
Project Description
I run an apartment rental business with 35 odd apartments on the books, but upwards of 100 shortly. I am looking for a simple on-line search for availability - plus price calculation. The pricing calculation matrix is simple - will develop more later.

The system requires a simple search box (date in, out, days, num of people) and the resulting available apartments displayed back in a relatively simple form.

There are multiple log-ins required for blocking dates on certain apartments, requiring up to 3 levels (super log-in, agent specific log-in to multiple apartments, apartment specific log-in)

This will be phase one of a 6-7 phase project developing over the next 3-6 months.

Not looking for a specific price at first contact - budget is dependant on me sending a more precise set of requirements. Will be very content to have an example of previous work or secure knowledge of the developers ability.

Proposal:
Dear Sir/Madam:

Thank you for the opportunity to submit my proposal for your project 5026, "CMS/Database query/apartment rental". Enclosed please find all information relative to my skills and experience, as well as a plan for project implementation, cost, and time estimates.

In reviewing your project description, I was excited to learn that you are seeking someone to write, what is essentially, a database-driven application application. The application will use data stored in a CMS. The application will provide an apartment booking service to various types of users. The CMS will hold data about the apartments e.g. images. The database will contain data about different types of users, apartments, bookings etc.

I have six years of experience in creating/managing such applications, for various companies. I have used licensed/open-source databases and java/j2EE software for development. My experience covers work from the front-end HTML/CSS/JavaScript right through to database design. I currently work for the BMJ and have worked for various commercial organizations managing web based applications. This experience certainly covers the aspects required for this project.

All the software required for this type of project is available as open source, at no cost to you. This includes the database, CMS, and application software. I'm not sure how you intend to host your site, unless you have selected a provider already.

This project would require various tasks to start up

1- select a hosting site, if one has not been selected. This is important as it would determine what type of software they will support.
2 - Decide on a CMS (for me to do), and then create all the data to be held.
3 - Decide on a database (for me to do), the data to be held in the database, and managing the data.
4- Creating the application that will sit on top of all this, and allow users to interact as you require. The application will support different types of users as you suggest.

These are just high level requirements will be broken down further and recorded in a task management store, to ensure the project stays on course, and no requirements are missed.

If selected for the project, I would like to create a requirements brief and confirm the technologies to be used. From there, I would like to map out a strategy that will illustrate each step of the project through its completion. I submit a tentative proposed cost estimate of £750. May I say that I would welcome a long-term business relationship.

I am pleased you state the project will take some time, as there is a substantial amount of work involved.

During the project I would prefer to give you regular updates and to discuss any points requiring clarification.

I look forward to speaking with you about this exciting project.

Sincerely,

Syed

Hi,

Have you got a Database already and you require a search function only? or do you need a database to be set up which also needs a search function where users would input dates and number of people?

Thank you.
