What type of files are you going to be sending around the network? Is there going to be a lot of large graphic type files?

There will be some large graphics files.

And how quickly do you see yourself needing to add to the network, PC's additional printers scanners etc.

There will be an additional PC at some stage and I would like to have the cabling in place already.
There will also add a colour laser when finance allows.

What type of business do you have?
PRINTING OUR UNIQUE RANGE OF GREETINGS CARDS & GIFTS BASED UPON MEDIEVAL, CELTIC & HERALDIC MOTIFS
What are the applications you are using currently/want to run?
MSOFFICE, PAGEMAKER, INDESIGN, COREL DRAW,SAGE
Are they any old systems with data on them that needs to be transferred?
I WOULD LIKE TO TRANSFER DATA FROM MY EXISTING PC - I\'M WONDERING IF IT\'S POSSIBLE TO WIRE THE OLD PC INTO THE NETWORK SO I CAN TRANSFER DATA TO THE NEW PC\'S AS I REQUIRE IT
Can you confirm you going to be 3 users? Or is the laptop a 2nd machine for someone. Is reomte access needed?
1 MAIN USER USING 1 PC, 2ND PC FOR ORDER PROCESSING AND ALSO A PART TIME SECOND USER (BOOK KEEPER). THE LAP TOP IS FOR ME TO USE WHEN I\'M AT EXHIBITIONS - IT WOULD BE HELPFUL TO BE ABLE TO PLUG IT INTO THE NETWORK WHEN I\'M IN THE OFFICE. NOTE: I DON\'T HAVE ONE AT PRESENT BUT I MAY GET A BLACKBERRY - CAN THEY PLUG INTO A NETWORK?
Can you tell me the type of layout the office is it single floor /3 rooms etc?
SINGLE FLOOR OFFICE EXTENSION TO MY HOUSE 2 ROOMS
Are you buying 3 printers so its 1 for each desk? Are they going to be the same type?
I ALREADY HAVE THE PRINTERS, A B/W LASER, COLOUR INKJET AND A LARGE FORMAT INKJET.
I WILL PURCHASE A COLOUR LASER AT SOME STAGE. I WOULD LIKE ALL THE PRINTERS AVAILABLE TO BOTH PRINTERS
Do you intend to scan lots of documents that need storage?
I HAVE A SCANNER WHICH I USE TO SCAN COLOUR ILLUSTRATIONS APPROX 30-50 PER MONTH
External hard drives are fine as a backup device but they are not really suited to say backing accounts data and taking off site for security reasons. If this is your reason for having this device?
THE EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE CAME OUT OF A CONVERSATION I HAD WITH A HARDWARE PROVIDER IT\'S NOT ESSENTIAL AT PRESENT I BACK UP TO DVD
VOIP. How many lines do you currently have and are they (ISDN Digital most common today). With Fax and ADSL Broadband on a analogue line?
I HAVE 1 LINE PROVIDED BY BT SPLIT INTO BROADBAND AND PHONE. THE IDEA OF VOIP APPEALS TO ME. IN ADDITION TO THE OFFICE I HAVE 2 RETAIL UNITS PLUS 1 MOBILE UNIT - I HAVE THE FANCIFUL NOTION OF BEING ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH EACH UNIT AT A LOWER COST THAN AT PRESENT. I WILL BE REDEVELOPING MY WEB SITE IN THE SPRING AND I AM HOPING TO INCLUDE A COMPANY INTRANET IN THE REDEVELOPMENT

Hello James

Would that be a server in place of the PC's or an addition?

Have you thought about a server for email/print/file sharing and backups?
