The “re-engineering” of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce and Industry over a five year period

Chief Executive of The Jersey Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. from July 1999 to June 2004

Responsible for the management of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the oldest Chamber in the English-speaking world.
Accredited and qualified member of the British Chambers of Commerce
Member of the Association of the British Chambers of Commerce Chief Executives.
Responsible for the mooting of the idea and for the negotiation until final conclusion of the sale of the property of Royal Square and of the purchase of the new building in Pier Road, thus creating a profit of £400.000 and new income to the Chamber of approx. £20.000 per year. Working with a team, but generally planning and managing along, in order to manage the removal of Chamber with only 24 hours’ closure between Christmas and New Year.
Responsible for growing the Chamber membership by 20% in the 5 year period.
Responsible for the improvement in the image of Chamber, with major progress since 1999, including the conception, planning and realisation of a website for Chamber, a quarterly magazine and computerisation of all records, the creation of an internet mail system which included 70% of Chamber members.
Responsible for links with France and the French Chambers.
Responsible for public relations.
Responsible for the idea, planning, design, creation, launch and first editions of « Enterprise », the Chamber magazine.
Responsible for all financial aspects.
Preparation (writing and preparation of accounts) for Annual Report.
Writing the “Annual Business Review” for the Jersey press each year.
Planning of all annual events for Chamber, including regular business lunches with a regular number of guests in excess of 250 (maximum reached 364 on one lunch).
Liaision with all the professional organisations such as the Institute of Directors, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Chartered Institute of Marketing et le Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, Rotary and others. Membership of most of the above.
Excellent contacts with Chambers of Commerce all over the world.
