FSB calls on EU to 'help small businesses'
Posted by peopleperhour.com - 25/06/2008 13:56
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has called on the EU to take positive action to help SMEs fulfil their potential to help Europe get out of its "economic malaise".

They have pointed to four key areas to help small businesses including regulatory exemptions for micro enterprises, small business elements to impact assessments, clearer EU law commencement dates, and a 12 week consultation period.

Tina Sommer, EU and international affairs chairman at the FSB said: "Small businesses will make a vital contribution to bringing Europe out of its economic gloom, but the EU must release them from their administrative shackles and allow them to fulfil their potential.

"Our message to the EU is: help small businesses to help you."

The request comes ahead of the EU Small Business Act, set to be released today, which will act as a framework for how the organisation deals with small businesses across the continent.
