Hi! My name's Dan Jeffries and I have a lot going on in my life. I'm a published author, rare disease advocate, podcast creator, online learning developer AND a music producer too! I'm looking to work with someone in the UK who can help me manage my social media output plus support in a couple of other areas. Let me give you some background... At 4 years old I was diagnosed with an ultra rare vascular condition called Wyburn Mason syndrome that would leave me blind in one eye by the age of 10. It affects around 1 in 50 million people. So it’s mega rare. However, this didn’t stop me making the most of life. Excelled at school in theatre and drama (and I avoided contact sports. Bonus!). University was lots of fun and I started to grown as a DJ and music producer. Successful career as a music tutor until I turned 30… …when I was diagnosed with a rare pituitary tumour. Quite by chance, in 2007, medical students at the eye hospital (tasked to diagnose my other rare condition) also commented on various ‘unusual’ features: large hands, protruding jaw, rigged forehead. All of them observed that I may have a condition called ‘Acromegaly’: the benign growth of a tumour causing excessive release of growth hormones and a reduction of testosterone production. Obviously this was quite a thing to hear! I ran out of hospital, Googled ‘acromegaly’ and knew that was what I had. 6 months later I was in hospital undergoing complex surgery. A few years later, I was out having dinner, telling my rather crazy story. The table went quiet. One girl said “you should write a book!”. And the seed was sown. In 2015 I published my memoir, Me Myself & Eye. It’s done really well (I think) for a book about a rare condition. It’s also opened some amazing doors for me too, including interviews, public speaking (paid!), radio and TV appearances, international conference invites and even trustee for one of the leading rare disease charities. It’s been a really fun ride. And whilst doing all this, I’ve actively been pushing my music career. Since I was 12 I’ve been writing dance music, and I love it. I’ve had numerous releases on my own labels (and other) and lots of remix work too. This year I am paying to work with a manager who’s been getting me more exposure and opportunities. With that comes a social presence. And I have very mixed feelings about this (but I know it's worth too). Oh and did I mention I'm also the Head of Digital Learning for a veterinary training company? So yeah, that takes up a fair whack of time too! I don’t have kids. *** Hopefully that gives you some sense of the scale of things. I need 3 of me, really. However, someone who can help with my cause will do until cloning becomes a thing. Memoir/Book - Strategy for content sharing, e.g. - Audio clips (from the audio book) - Book snippets - Post events and news (This year = 10 year anniversary of publication) Rare Disease - Sharing content from RD socials - Long form content - LinkedIn - AcroTales (podcast series I produce) - help coordinate recording schedule and promote Music - Content strategy for IG and YT - Strategy plan for pre and post music release (lots of good guides out there) - YouTube videos (me in studio, live jams) - YouTube shorts - DJ sets from home (help with planning and promote) So I’m looking for someone who can: - help me schedule the content that I need to produce (AcroTales, videos, social clips) - create/share content on socials - help with long-form content ideas and writing - suggest things! And as a bonus: - spot opportunities - engage with pharma and other organisations for speaking opportunities (% share paid for helping source these!) If you’re still reading, I hope you may still be interested! Drop me a message outlining how you may be able to help and past experience you've had. I am ideally looking for a single person to help with all the areas listed above. And due to the nature of this work, it's a UK only role. Mozart KV411 (also k484a) an extraordinary 5 minute adagio for clarinets and basset horns. I need someone to turn this into a relatively simple piece for two hand piano/ keyboard solo. I will upload a copy of the score but it is readily freely available online. A piece of software will easily transcribe this into 5 individual piano lines in Bb (melody scanner will do it online (and you can take out any of the lines) but you will probably have your own - sibellius or some such). So the job is really to take those 5 lines and turn them into a piece of single keyboard music. Where the chords become too unmangageable you are welcome to simplify (I am happy with quite a simple keyboard piece) and you may want to transpose one of the treble lines to the bass. But please try to preserve the extraodinary harmonies including the dissonances. There is only a small fee so it is ideal for someone with the right software to take most of the slog out of it-
21 days ago9 proposalsRemoteSerpapi scholar ai websearch equviliant
Original Project Overview We maintain a Google Sheets database of academic figures, each with the following columns: Name Surname Email University Subject We need to automatically fetch the latest two publications for each individual using: Google Scholar (via SerpAPI’s Scholar API) ORCID (public API) OpenAlex (public API) The results must be inserted back into specified columns in the Google Sheet (F–Q), updated daily or on-demand. Key Challenges Sorting by Latest in Google Scholar By default, Scholar returns top-cited or most-relevant articles, not necessarily newest. Must force a date sort (&sort=pubdate) or a separate fallback approach. Handling Ambiguous Names Multiple authors can share the same name. Potentially need to detect and filter out mismatched results. Ensuring Valid Data Types Google Sheets rejects structured or non-string data. Must parse out just the string or numeric year/date. Rate Limits and API Keys Respect daily or per-minute call limits for SerpAPI, ORCID, OpenAlex. Must handle errors gracefully. Automation Should run as a script from a server or cloud environment (we have console access). Possibly on a schedule (e.g., daily cron job). Responsibilities Set up a robust Python script or application that: Authenticates to Google Sheets (using service account credentials). DONE Retrieves our researcher data (Name, Surname, Email, University, Subject) from the “Pubs” or “Topics” sheet. Calls SerpAPI’s Google Scholar endpoint with date-sorted queries, including fallback logic if no results appear. Calls ORCID’s public API (optional, can parse structured date fields carefully). Calls OpenAlex’s public API to fetch the newest two works by each author. Inserts the results (title, year/date) back into the correct columns in the Google Sheet (F–Q). Handle name disambiguation or minimal validation so we don’t store obviously incorrect publications. Deliverables Python script (or small app) that can be triggered manually or on a schedule. Successful write-back of 2 publications each from Google Scholar, ORCID, and OpenAlex (6 total) into the correct columns. Error handling: If no results, store “N/A” or a sensible fallback. Instructions on setup, environment variables, and usage (e.g., README). What Still Needs To Be Done 1. Fix Google Scholar Fetch Main Problem: You're getting most cited or incorrect results. Needs Fixing: Ensure sort=pubdate is actually respected in SerpAPI query. Add fallback logic: if pubdate query fails (returns nothing), retry without it. Clean up irrelevant results using basic validation (e.g., check university or subject in result string). 2. OpenAlex Improvements Currently works for some authors. But still needs name disambiguation logic: Validate author’s affiliation or match on email (if possible). Fallback if OpenAlex returns wrong author. 3. ORCID Integration (Optional) You paused this due to structured date errors. If you want to include it again later: Parse structured publication-date fields into simple strings. Validate the correct ORCID author before fetching works. 4. Error Handling Improve logging to show: Which step failed (e.g. API call, parsing, writing to sheet). Show why (e.g., "no publications found", "mismatched data", "bad year format"). Replace all "N/A" logic with something more transparent (e.g., "No match found for [X]"). 5. Name Disambiguation Logic Currently just using Name + University + Subject in the query. Needs: Smarter matching logic to avoid irrelevant or repetitive publications. Maybe strip long names or fuzzy-match affiliations if exact match fails. 6. Cleaner Sheet Writes Fix Google Sheets writing errors: Avoid trying to write structured JSON (like ORCID publication-date objects). Ensure all fields written are flat strings (title + year/date only). 7. Automation (Optional) Set up to run automatically (cron job, server scheduler) if needed. Add logging/output to file for record-keeping.
