Description
Experience Level: Entry
What I need:
I need to configure two Amazon Workspaces (Virtual Windows 10 Desktops) to have simple Windows File sharing between the Windows Machines (Amazon Workspaces). When fully configured this environment will permit the mapping of a windows file folder from one Amazon Workspace Desktop (Windows 10) to the other, and vis-a-versa.
The windows destops should be running within Amazon web services using the WorkSpaces virtual desktops.
I will provide the credentials to an amazon Web services account which has the two Workspace windows 10 machines, I just need you to create whatever firewall, hosts file, routing table configurations to permit these two machines to windows fileshare between them.
I do not want them to be reliant on a VPN such as hamachi to connect between the machines. I'd like them to be able to connect directly together as would be expected in an on-site network where they are all in the same domain/workgroup (they will all be in the same domain within the AWS account so hopefully this is not an issue to achieve.)
I hope this makes some sense. I've attempted to do the above myself, but while I can successfully connect two physical machines in my office, I've not figured out the "missing link" to get two Amazon Workspace virtual desktops to connect in such a manner. One further point of clarification, I just need Amazon Workspace (win 10) #A to connect to Amazon Workspace (win 10) #B where both are within the same Amazon Domain...I do not need any connectivity with on premises resources...just connection between the two amazon virtual desktops.
I'd also like to get a step by step description of the specific steps taken to configure the above functionality so that the same configuration can easily be replicated (i.e. what settings are necessary within the AWS side of the configuration, what settings are necessary with each of the Win10 Amazon Workspace machines.)
Hopefully it's a "fun and simple" task for someone with the knowledge of working within the AWS world and familiarity with Amazon Workspaces and basic Windows 10 peer to peer networking.
Much thanks for your consideration.
