Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
Hello,
We have to subtitle several video interviews about the surf culture in Morocco.
The interviews were done in Moroccan Arabic and Amazigh and now need to be translated and subtitled into good English.
(If you only speak one of the two languages mentioned, feel free to contact us as well.)
We would send you the video files and a (very simple and small) software (along with a little video tutorial) in which you would translate the interviews - sentence by sentence - and create English subtitles.
You need a computer (Mac OSX or Windows) and headphones or loudspeakers to watch and listen to the interviews as well as internet access to download the video files (about 700 megabytes per video hour) - and of course very good skills in written English! The translations need to be made very diligently.
About the process: You need to type the English translation in a special software programme and position the sentences according to the corresponding video - meaning that the translated sentence is screened when it is spoken in the video.
When you finish a video, you just save the subtitle file and send it to us.
There are several hours of interviews. The plan is to start with a short sequence to get you accustomed to the software and clarify potential questions.
We estimate that you need to listen to each interview/sentence 5-6 times to translate it correctly. There are also pauses during the interviews (when the interviewer asks a question in English or when the camera is being moved) that do not need to be translated.
Please state your price per hour of translated video footage (not per working hour).
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Please let us also know about your experience in translating into English.
Thank you and best regards,
Valentin
