General information for the business: website scraping with automated auction bidding
Description of requirements/functionality: I have a website that I am looking to scrape and perform actions depending on the data that is scraped.
The process will be:
1 - Login to the site
The site is secured by a username and password but also an additional security question of which there are three questions / answers. e.g. Q. What is your pets name? A. Bingo
The site uses HTTPS.
2. Once authenticated, there is a main screen showing all the auctions that are currently live with their end times and price.
This needs to be scraped so that logic can be applied later.
3. In the last few seconds of the auction a decision needs to be made on whether to bid. This will be determined by the auction current price and a predetermined logic that I will discuss with bidders.
The proposal should be:
Cloud hosted (if possible) - not a deal breaker
Secure
Limit the number of calls to the website - i.e. if there is no auction closing within next few hours then don't refresh data ever minute
Auditable - output the decisions made to a log with the time of each decision / action
Capable of working in 'test' mode - i.e. state what action would have been taken - that can be easily switched on/off without restarting the application – and should be visible what mode it is currently in
When replying to this, please provide:
- Cost
- Time to deliver
- Technology used
- Details of similar work undertaken
I propose that there are two milestones for this project:
Milestone 1 - Code has been delivered and is operating in monitoring test mode (with decisioning shown in logs)
Milestone 2- 2 days of successful monitoring followed by 3 days of successful live operation
Extra notes:
