Project Title : Microsoft Access 2007 Student Database

Project Description
Hi,

I would like a new student record database system to be built. The database is to be used to record the modules that a student has completed, or is currently enrolled in.

Students are admitted to a course (e.g. BS - Fine Art). As part of their course, students complete a number of modules (e.g. History of art). Once students have completed a number of specified and elective modules they will be eligible to graduate from their course.

For each student, you will need to store the following pieces of information:

Student ID (12 characters long)
First Name (64 characters)
Surname (64 characters)
Address information
Contact Information
Picture of the student

As well, the courses he/she has been admitted to (or graduated from) and the modules enrolled in (or completed) as part of each course they are part of.

For each course the following information is required:

Course Code (8 characters long)
Course Title (64 characters max)
Status of the course (Running or Not-Running)

For each student enrolled/admitted in a course:

Date the student started the course
The status of the student in the course (e.g. Current, Not-Current, Graduated, Excluded).
Graduation Date

For each module you need to store the following information:
Module Code
Module Title
Credit Point value
Status of the module (Running or Not-Running)

For each module that a student is enrolled you will need:

Date the student started the module (e.g. the semester and year)
Status of the student (Current, Completed, Excluded)
Grade for the student

Grades are split into 3 types:

Passing grades: A, B, C, D, APL, TR
Failing grades: E, W
Administrative grade: DF (deferred)

The system should have the following characteristics:

You need to design tables and queries as necessary in order to support the business requirements. All reports and forms should be formatted to a high standard. In addition you should develop forms to:

• Act as an interface to ALL queries and reports
• Switchboard/Menu System to control access to queries and Reports
• Data validation for inputs
• Use of subforms

It is important that the interface works in an “easy-to-use” fashion and demonstrates an understanding of the business requirements. The design should be very clean and contempry to users, with easy navigation system to other parts of the database.

The database needs to be created in Microsoft Access 2007.

An example of a database is provided, this shows on how I would like the layout of the database and also in terms of the design that I am looking for.

How many new students\' records would you expect to be added each week?

What level of CRB clearance do you require?
